Not true is this myth. People living the pro ana lifestyle are encouraged to talk to people around them including those who might have gone through it. Finding happiness in oneself is what life is all about, and seeking counsel about it cans open doors that a person previously thought were closed to them. People going through this seek understanding and non-judgment as do those who have gone before them, it's not hard to see why this is a myth associated with the lack of truth.
Generally, when a person is suffering from something that can kill them, there are support groups that are on the ready to help and aid them in their time of need. Pro ana is one such group, and it has helped many. However, there are some who believe that people who are apart of these groups advocate people dying for the good of their cause. Pro ana does not do that in the least, it is a support group that can help a person see that there are healthier ways of losing weight.
As most people well know, pro ana is a very dangerous lifestyle. It has corrupted and destroyed many a life; some people believe that it is the way to go to get down to the ideal weight of their desire when just the opposite is true. Pro ana has entered the minds of people who have found it too difficult to lose weight on their own, for these kinds of people, pro ana is an outlet and that alone. Centrally, there are pro ana myths that people have come to "love and respect" that has become very common over the years.
Pro Ana Myth 1 - Starvation is the key to a healthy weight
This myth is one of the biggest lies on the market; people who have wanted to lose weight have resorted to starvation because they feel it is the only way to get to their ideal weight without any possibility of failure. Starvation not only destroys the person from the outside in, but it wreaks havoc on their mental state as well. A person will get down to their ideal weight, but they'll lose a lot more than they stand to gain. It's a slippery slope for those who choose to starve themselves, they don't gain anything, and they only lose continuously.
Pro Ana Myth 2 - Pro ana recruit’s people to be thin
Nothing about Pro ana is inviting, if a person chooses to go down that road, it is because they choose to and not because they were recruited. Most people are quick to judge pro ana like it is a sort of penchant lifestyle that is looking to help people lose "vanity" pounds; the truth is far less designed. Pro ana invites and supports people who are looking to fight the temptation of the evils that people invest in doing things like starving themselves to death.
