The tips listed for eating habits are unhealthy. The fact that the sites are out there, and others are viewing them, makes girls think they are ok. Some of the wording tricks used are; "nothing tastes as good as skinny" or; "keep calm and stop eating". These make the girls feel it is sociably accepted.
Visiting thinspiration sites make women feel bad about their looks. High school girls who view them have been found to think less of their body image than those that don't view them. A lot of times, especially with the young, if a group is doing something it feels safe for them to do it too. Websites for thinspiration create just that sense of safety. It says to them that it is "ok" not to like their body, and that it is acceptable to change it.
Bodies are meant to look different. There is no one body type that fits everyone. Women, or girls, visiting thinspiration sites seem to not believe this. They strive to make their bodies look like those appearing on the sites. Thinspiration teaches people to compare their body to bodies they're shown rather than appreciating who they are.
People should not just focus on how they look; they also need to consider health. A healthy diet and exercise should be how you obtain a look. It should never be about making others jealous. If you are only thinking about looks, and that is all you seem to be able to focus on, you should consider seeking outside help.
There has been a movement recently where some social networks like; Instagram and FaceBook, have put new terms on their sites to prohibit thinspiration type ideas. Some of them have made public vows to create on-line free sites from such content. They will ban accounts if they find they are encouraging such acts as anorexia or bulimia or other disorders. Even though some networks have made it impossible to search words like thinspiration, users can still easily find over 300,000 photos by other tags. Facebook limitations seem to be the most effective. Their enforcements on pro-eating disorder content and monitoring of the activity have left only a few groups on their site.
